Information for Exhibitors and Visitors

Tuesday, June 23rd, 2009

Just a quick note to say how the day is going to be organised for both exhibitors and visitors:

VISITORS:

Turn up, have a wicked time.

EXHIBITORS:

Doors open for exhibitors to set up at eleven, we will provide table cloths and Gosh bags for everyone to use to don’t worry about that unless you have the best table cloth in the world. There is limited display space but you are welcome to put posters/canvases up on the wall as long as they’re taken down afterward.

The selling continues until 6pm at which point we will attempt to remove the tables from the room, and pull out all the comfy seating so that people can sit around and sketch, watch animations and have a drink until closing time which is around 9 or 10pm.

Please make sure you have seen the revised table plan so that you know roughly where you are, I also recommend checking out your table buddies’ sites. Because LUC is always about socialising I advise people to take shifts behind their tables and get up and have a wander around. Communal price lists etc would be good for all tables so that people can do this with ease. It also gives people a bit more room to breath.

See you on Saturday!

LUC@176 FREE FOR ALL EXHIBITORS

176-free-copy

Hello everyone, as the title of this post suggests, me and Sean have been very busy recently polishing up 176 ready for the 27th of June.

What with the event having free teas and coffees, free music and free entry for visitors, not to mention the free animation reel we decided that FREE was the key word, so with a bit of budget fiddling (and another huge thank you to GOSH! without whom none of this would be possible) we have now managed to make the event FREE FOR ALL EXHIBITORS.

Obviously to do that we’ve had to do a couple of chops and changes, most notably losing the canvas per person idea, but since exhibitors are now paying nothing to exhibit they are more than welcome to bring their own!

We’ve also mucked around with the table plan to give everybody an equal amount of space, a revised version of which will go up in the coming days after I have refunded everybody… A small compromise I’m sure you’ll agree.

This now makes LUC@176 the cheapest and best comics event ever in the history of the universe.

Do you love us?

I think you do.

A shout out to our friends: the Forbidden Planet Blog

logo-for-fp

I would like to take a few minutes of the LUC fan’s time to return the plugging favour to a site that has, over the past couple of years, given us it’s wholesale and much appreciated support: The Forbidden Planet Blog Log.

The lovely Joe Gordon and Richard Bruton have tirelessly and consistently picked up and publicised every bit of news/video and events that LUC have come up with without ever needing to be asked. They’ve always spoken of us in the highest regard and reccomended us to anyone with an interest in small press comics.

Richard in particular has really gotten into the spirit of things by reviewing his way through the stalls back catalogue and even sending back the review copies so as not to deprive our participants of a potential sale, a true gentleman, even when I send him personalised Grumpy Days episodes at 2 in the morning.

On a personal note, as someone who has made no money from this venture and barely has time to produce new comics to sell on his own stall, their encouragement of not only my efforts in running LUC, but also of the creative personal works that I have produced from time to time have really given me the drive to keep going. And I’m sure Sean feels the same.

So thank you Forbidden Planet Blog Log and keep up the good work!

Extra 176 Goodness

Monday, April 27th, 2009

Hello all, It’s been a while since the last bit of news on 176 but I thought I’d write a note to set your minds at rest. Myself and Sean have now added the following extra sweet features to the event:

FREE tea and coffee for all!

Beer and Wine all day for only £2 per bottle/glass (you can also bring a bottle if you feel the need)

Because we have booze and drinks available on the premises, LUC @ 176 will now continue late into the evening with live DJ’s and maybe some more acoustic music, the tables will be pushed back, the couches pulled out and a pleasant evening chillaxing with friends and sketching, either inside or in the rather sexy outside table and chairs area, will be had by all… and you thought we couldn’t offer anything more!

If you are musically inclined and would like to play on the day, don’t hesitate to mail londonundergroundcomics@yahoo.co.uk

LUC@176 TABLE PLAN

Monday, March 30th, 2009

tableplan-2-copy

By way of explanation for the new table plan, we thought that if everyone was paying the same (ie. free) then we should give everyone equal space, to that end we didn’t have room to give everyone a half table so I’m afraid everyone gets a quarter, which is still a good square meter each. This also gives much more room to breath in the overall space. Extra tables may be added on the day if we think there is room, but this is the minimum amount of space everyone will receive. Plus you all get comfy chairs! Another LUC first.

NOTE: With the rearrangement I’ve probably forgotten who asked to share with who so please mail me ASAP if I haven’t noted your request!
