Low Energy Day visitor and exhibitor info (updated frequently):

Tuesday, July 15th, 2008

Visitors:

Come along, have an awesome time, spend all your money, meet fantastic people and be inspired. Hell, go away and make your on comic so you can be on a table. Entry to the market is free so all you need to do is bring your mates and dance to DJ Larrysun. If you don’t I’ll kick you in the balls, or your boyfriend’s balls if you don’t have any.

Exhibitors:

To exhibit will cost between five and ten pounds depending on how many people we can fit into the area, the more creators we have the cheaper it will be. Bring along, props, posters, sketchbooks etc. so we can really pimp the place out, go crazy. We want four to five people per table (probably themed depending on whether I feel like staying up late organising such things), which we are providing table cloths for- the idea being that you set up a communal price list and take it in turns to sell your wares like at No Barcodes. Leaving you free to mingle and get drunk.

To reserve a place on the table send me an e-mail at:

camdencomics@hotmail.co.uk

And I will put you on the list below, once enough people have signed up I will start grouping into tables (feel free to chime in with suggestions). In the mean time tell your mates, your friends, make a new comic, get a group of five people together for a table… All that stuff.

Should you be so inclined please feel free to make your own low energy posters/ fliers to distribute where you live, or decorate the halls on the day. This would be a great help in not only raising awareness but keeping our costs low so we can charge you less rent. We don’t want to ever charge more than a tenner per person for any of our events, we don’t think small press should be reserved for those with money, we want new creators being inspired and taking part in an open and vibrant celebration of what underground publishing can achieve.

below are the confirmed exhibitors so far, check out their sites and if your name is not on the list then e-mail me as soon as possible we were fully booked within a week of announcement last time…

Stall Report 09/03/08

Sunday, March 9th, 2008

On the stall this week Sean, Oli, Luke,Dan,Francessca, Phil, and flying visit from Karrie. The grey sky and freezing conditions continue to embrace the hardy souls who populate the table. Dan and Andy seem to be involved in some sort of competition to see how many comics they can publish each week. Both had two new issues available this week. Andy in particular seems to have turned his skills into being a self contained industry, writer, artist, publisher, reviewer, columnist and committee member. A very busy man. Also new on the table was Ed 4 by Sean. A busy late afternoon saw a flurry of selling, and the general consensus was that it was a good day. Everyone trudged back to Oli central, where a surprise visit by Alex Fitch completed another hectic day in Camden.

Resonating the airwaves

Thursday, January 31st, 2008

Completely lifted from the Bugpowder website.

‘If you’ve spent more than five minutes NOT talking about Oli Smith and London Underground Comics then there is something wrong with you. To make amends please listen to Resonance FM or 104.4 FM in London from 5 until 6 on Thursday the 31st of January to hear an interview with Oli Smith and Oliver Lambden about how much they love being rude about small press comics: Interviewer Alex Fitch writes:

“The first of a two part look at new comic creators and how they distribute their work to the public, Alex Fitch talks to Oli Smith and Oliver (Tales from the Flat) Lambden about their small press titles and their customers at the Camden Market Comics Stall.”
If you miss that then you can download it at Panel Borders shortly after. See? No excuse.

2008

Saturday, January 5th, 2008

Happy New Year folks! The stall has done massively well over the festive period and our two day stint over the weekend before Christmas was most successful. Looking forwards to taking the stall from strength to strength over the next year, hopefully expanding both our table space and quality of comics on sale. We now have the unique genius of Dan Lester’s Monkeys Might Puke gracing the stall, a must have for anyone with a sense of humor on the dark side.Check out an interview with Oli Smith about the stall here, and click here for an interview with mister David Baillie where the Camden comics stall and a few of the regular hosts get favourable mentions.beastie-boys.jpg
